How to Configure EMV Settings for Your Merchants’ Payment Terminals
iPOSpays allows ISOs to configure EMV (Europay, Mastercard, and Visa) settings for their merchants’ payment terminals. These settings control how the terminal handles EMV chip and contactless transactions, including contactless limits, fallback behavior, PIN bypass, Application Identifier (AID) selection, and debit routing. This document explains how to configure the EMV settings for your merchants’ payment terminals in the iPOSpays portal.
Access the EMV Settings
- Log into the iPOSpays portal using your ISO credentials.
- Go to S.T.E.A.M → Edit Parameters.
- Using the search box, locate and select the required payment terminal TPN.
- Click Edit Parameter.

- Go to the EMV tab.
- Under EMV, configure the required settings.
Configure the EMV Settings
The EMV section provides the following settings:
-
Contactless Transaction Limit
Specifies the maximum transaction amount that can be processed using a contactless payment method. Transactions above the configured limit may require another supported card-entry method.
-
Contactless No Device Limit
Specifies the maximum contactless transaction amount that can be processed without requiring a Cardholder Verification Method (CVM), such as a PIN or signature.
-
Contactless On Device Limit
Specifies the transaction limit for contactless payments where cardholder verification is performed on the customer’s device, such as a mobile device or supported digital wallet.
-
Fallback
Determines whether fallback transactions are allowed. When enabled, the terminal can use a supported fallback card-entry method, such as magnetic stripe, when the card’s chip cannot be successfully read.
- Select Enable or Disable as required.
-
Fallback Count
Specifies the number of unsuccessful chip-read attempts allowed before the terminal can proceed with the configured fallback flow.
- Enter the required number of attempts.
-
PinBypass Credit
Determines whether PIN entry can be bypassed for eligible credit transactions when a PIN is requested.
- Select Enable or Disable as required.
-
Auto select AID
Determines whether the terminal automatically selects an available Application Identifier (AID) when multiple payment applications are available on the card.
- Select Enable or Disable as required.
-
Auto select common AID
Determines which common debit AID is automatically selected when multiple debit applications are available.
Select one of the following:
- US Debit AID: Uses the U.S. common debit application for applicable debit transactions.
- Scheme Debit AID: Uses the applicable card-network debit application.
-
Enforce US Debit AID
Determines whether the terminal must use the US Debit AID for applicable debit transactions.
- Select Enable or Disable as required.
-
Processor
Specifies the payment processor for which the EMV settings are configured.
- Select the required processor from the Processor drop-down list.

Save the EMV Settings
After configuring the required EMV settings:
-
Click Save to apply the changes to the selected TPN.
OR
-
Click Save As Template to save the configured parameters as a template for future use.

Perform a parameter update on the merchant’s payment terminal for the updated EMV settings to take effect.
